Sermon Outline for 3rd/4th Worship Service at Yoido Full Gospel Church


Title: Jesus (Christ) the Healer
Scripture: John 5:1-9

Sin and despair came to humankind because man departed from God. In the history of humanity, nobody has solved this problem. Although many religious leaders and philosophers have known that the fundamental problems of life are sin and despair, they have not been able to offer a solution to these problems.?? The only one who could provide the answer is Jesus. The Savior of humanity, Jesus Christ solved all the problems of sin and worldly despair on the Cross 2,000 years ago. Now real freedom and blessing are available to whosoever believes in Jesus. Among the despair that comes to the lives of humankind is death. Disease urges our lives toward death more harshly.?? In the fifth chapter of John, there is a story about a person who was healed. In the Word, there is wonderful spiritual teaching for us.?

1. A desperate situation where there were many patients
1) There were the blind: Without knowing the spiritual world they were born in sin,
lived in sin, and died in sin.
2) There were the lame: Spiritually speaking, they were the ones who lost their
balance before God, doing unrightly.
3)? There were the paralyzed: They were the ones who were impotent spiritually,
having no hope in life, living paralyzed lives.


2. The pool of healing, Bethesda
1) The Bible tells us about the amazing work of healing manifested through the
Bethesda pool (Jn 5:4).
2) This is the Church of today. On hearing the Word and during the time of praise
and prayer, miracles happen when the Holy Spirit comes.

3. An invalid for 38 years who lost hope (Jn 5:5) ?
　　1) Among the patients, the most desperate invalid had been there for 38 years.
2) Thirty-eight years is coincident with the period the Israelites wandered in the desert
because they grumbled before God when they came to Kadesh Barnea (Dt 2:14).
　　3) A letter from a saint


4. The Healer, Jesus????
　　1) Jesus had mercy on the invalid of 38 years. The solution to all problems starts
　　here (Jn 5:6).?
　　2) Even today Jesus asks all of us, "Do you want to get well?"
　　3) When we have clear hope in prayer before the Lord and arise, a miracle will
　　happen (Jer 33:3).

The Lord speaks again (Jn 5:8). ??Get up from the place of despair! Pick up your mat of the curse and despair, and walk ahead in faith. Miracles happen even today!
