Helplessness
Jeremiah 33:2-3 (NIV)
?? This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it?봳he LORD is his name:
3 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.' ??
Introduction: There is an expression in Korean, ?쏻e are attacked on every side.??This means that we are surrounded by enemies. Also, people say, ?쏮y hands are tied. I am at my wits end and don?셳 know what to do.?? We feel like we are living on the edge of a precipice. Such helplessness means that we cannot move forward nor backward. We experience this kind of trouble in life.
1. The fall and helplessness of Adam.
1) The wages of sin is death.
?? Not by moral training.
?? Not by self-discipline.
?? Not by religion (Ac 4:12).
- Only death is the wages of sin.
2) The helplessness of humankind and the devil?셲 laugh.
?? Humankind are helpless sinners, slaves to death (Ro 5:12).
?? Eternal slaves of the devil who holds the power of death, helplessness (Gal 4:8).
3) God?셲 great and unsearchable counterplan.
?? The birth of a man without sin (2Co 5:21).
?? The sacrificial atonement (Isa 53:5).
?? He redeemed us from sin and death (Ro 8:1-2).
2. The helplessness of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
1) The dedication of the image of King Nebuchadnezzar (Da 3:6-7).
2) The three young Hebrew men refused to worship the idol (Da 3:12).
3) The anger of King Nebuchadnezzar, helplessness (Da 3:14-15).
4) The decision of the three young men (Da 3:6-18).
5) God?셲 great and unsearchable counterplan (Da 3:26-28, 30).
3. The helplessness of the disciples on the stormy waves.
1) A furious storm and the helplessness of the disciples (Lk 8:22-23).
2) They awakened Jesus (Lk 8:24).
3) Jesus??great and unsearchable counterplan (Lk 8:24-25).
4. When we feel helpless in life.
1) Remember God who has a great and unsearchable counterplan (Jer 33:2-3).
2) Rely on God with all your heart and with unswerving faith.
- If I live I will evangelize; if I die I will go to heaven (Mk 16:15; Heb 11:6).
3) Believe God?셲 great and unsearchable counterplan and expect it (1Co 2:9; Eph 3:20).
Conclusion: Our helplessness is an opportunity to experience God?셲 presence in our life. Faith without doubt brings us tremendous miracles!
