The Pressure from a Debt

John 19:30, NIV
“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”

Introduction: A person who experiences the pressure from a debt understands how painful it is. Anyone suffering from debt reclamation becomes so nervous and jumpy that even a knock on the door makes one’s heart pound. Anxiety and fear will make a person stay up all night. When Yoido Full Gospel Church was under construction, I suffered greatly from the pressure of debt.
?

1. We are in debt from birth.
1) The debt of sin.
- All people are in debt with the original sin they have inherited from Adam, plus their own sin. We are pressed to pay the debt with a righteous life (Jer 22:2).
2) The debt of depravity.
- All people are born with a depraved nature. We are pressed to return it with a holy life
(Ps 14:1).
3) The debt of disease.
- Physical disease is the fruit of depravity. We are pressed to pay the debt with the dedication of our body.
4) The debt of curses.
- The curse of thorns and thistles came as a consequence of depravity, and we are pressed to pay the debt with the dedication of our life.
5) The debt of death and hell.
- From birth, the dark hand of death follows us and it leads us to a hopeless hell (Ro 5:12).
- We cannot repay the debt of despair.

2. Jesus came to pay our debt
1) Jesus who has no sin did not come from Adam, but was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary (Lk 1:31, 35).
- He is the Christ, the Son of the living God (1Ti 2:5-6).
2) He came to repay our debt (Isa 53:4-8).
① Jesus cleansed our debt of sin.
② Jesus cleansed our debt of depravity.
③ Jesus cleansed our debt of disease.
④ Jesus cleansed our debt of curses.
⑤ Jesus cleansed our debt of death and hell (Jn 19:30).

3. The new has come (2Co 5:17).
1) We have become righteous and forgiven (Ro 3:23-24).
2) We have become holy and Spirit filled (Tit 3:5-7).
3) We have been healed (1Pe 2:24; Mk 16:17-18).
4) We have been blessed with the blessings of Abraham (Gal 3:13-14).
5) We have become owners of heaven, eternal life, and true happiness (Jn 14:1-3).

Conclusion: Things we need to do.
1) Renew our thinking.
2) Renew our dream, our self-image.
3) Have positive faith.
4) Speak new words.
