The Foundation That Cannot Be Shaken

Hebrews 12:28, NIV
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.”


Introduction: About twenty years ago, on October 17, 1989 at 5:04 p.m., there was a big earthquake in San Francisco. I was staying in a four-storied hotel where the earthquake took place. When a foundation is shaken, a building built on the foundation will be destroyed.


1. The foundation that is shaken by God.
　　1) Sodom and Gomorrah (Ge 19:24-25).
　　2) The city of Jericho (Jos 6:20).
3) If God shakes nations, companies, personal life, or family life, nothing can stand against Him
(Ps 127:1; Mt 7:26-27).

2. The foundation that is shaken by the devil.
　　1) Accusations and attacks on individuals?Job's trial (Job 1:8-9, 11; 2:4-5).
　　2) The devil shakes business and family life (Jn 10:10; 1Pe 5:8).
　　However, if God holds us, we will never collapse (2Co 4:7-10).

3. The foundation that cannot be shaken.
　　1) From beginning to end, Jesus gave himself to Satan.
　　① Shaken with sin.
　　② Shaken with secular desire.
　　③ Shaken with disease.
　　④ Shaken with curses.
　　⑤ Shaken with death. Jesus overcame all this and resurrected (Col 2:13-15).

When Satan destroys our foundation of life, we must go to Jesus, the firm foundation of our life.
　　Jesus is the Rock of Ages, the only proven rock that is unshakable and everlasting
　　1Co 3:10-11; Mt 7:24-25; Isa 26:4).


Conclusion: When the judgment of God shakes the foundation of humanists, atheists, and idolaters, their lives will be eternally destroyed. The foundation of the world and wealth and prosperity will all collapse. Only Jesus Christ is the Rock of Ages, our everlasting and unshakable rock.
