Humankind Is Searching for the Way
John 14:1-6
　Our lives are inseparably related to ways. In my childhood, on the way to school I used to walk on the footpath along the narrow lane between rice fields. It was the way where I could find all kinds of wild plants, flowers, insects, birds, and animals. There are many kinds of ways, such as a walkway for people to walk in streets of a town, a highway for vehicles, a railway for trains, a seaway for ships, and the airways for airplanes. However, human lives are not only involved in earthly ways. Humankind possesses a way which is invisible and a level higher than those of the world. That is the spiritual way.

1. Humankind has lost the way since birth
1) Adam was banished from his home.
- He was banished from the Garden of Eden to wander in the world, because he committed sin against God (Gen 3:17).
2) God blocked the way back to the Garden of Eden.
- Eden disappeared since God placed a flaming sword to guard the way to the Garden of Eden (Gen 3:24).
3) We were lost from birth (existential despair).
- We have lost both God who is the beginning of life and our spiritual home. We wander around the world without knowing where we came from or where we are going. We live in despair and go to hell after death (Ecc 2:23).

2. Only humankind seeks eternal life and searches for the way
1) Materialistic Atheism - They ignore the existence of the spirit and God, considering a human being to consist only of material substances. They deny the way to eternal life.
2) A man-made way - Humanistic religion (Jer 2:13, Ps 107:17-18).
3) The devil’s way of deception - A person who walks through the wrong way by false revelation (Jn 8:44, 2Jn 1:7).
4) The true way to truth ? A overseas travel and a map (1Jn 5:20, Ac 4:12).

3. The true way to truth
1) God who hid the way sent the way from heaven.
- I am the way... No one comes to the Father except through me (Ac 2:28).
2) He died and rose again and was taken up to heaven. He himself proved the way to heaven (1Cor 15:3-4, Eph 1:20).
3) He sent the Holy Spirit, the One who will guide us to heaven (Ac 2:32-33, Jn 14:1-4).

4. Jesus opened the way that had been blocked
1) The way was blocked by the devil, sin, and death (Rom 5:12, Mt 7:13).
2) The death of Jesus on the Cross and the way that has been open (Jn 3:16, Heb 10:19-20).
3) The way only by faith (Eph 2:8-9, Rom 10:10).

　Only Jesus is the way to our heavenly home. Those who accept Jesus will have the way to salvation, the way to heaven, and the way to faith, hope, love, righteousness, peace, and joy. We are no longer wanderers but finders of the way.
