Life in a Different Dimension
Hebrews 10:38, NIV
But my righteous one will live by faith.
And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.
Human beings think and act according to their own dimension. People who live in rural areas think in a farming dimension, and people who live in urban areas think according to their dimension of a city. The Israelites went through great trials, because the dimension of their thoughts remained unchanged.
1. Two dimensions that the Israelites experienced.
1) Their thoughts in the human dimension during their slavery in Egypt
(Ex 12:40).
① They thought from the place of slaves.
② They thought from a sense of inferiority.
③ They thought in a dimension of discrimination.
④ They thought in a dimension of despair.
2) The dimension of their thoughts after they were set free.
① Human dimension and despair?in front of the Red Sea (Ex 14:10-11).
② Moses' declaration of God’s dimension (Ex 14:13-14).
2. Opportunities that caused Israel to turn their thoughts from the human dimension to God’s dimension.
1) The divided Red Sea and miraculous salvation (Ex 14:21).
2) The exemplary teaching of God’s dimension?always remember the event at
the Red Sea.
3) Discipline in God’s dimension.
① The bitter water at Marah (Ex 15:23-25).
② Manna (Ex 16:14-15, 35).
③ Water (Ex 17:6; Ps 105:41).
④ Quail (Nu 11:31-32).
3. The failure in Kadesh Barnea (Nu 13:31-32; 14:8-9).
1) Think according to God (Pr 4:23; Isa 55:8-9).
2) Dream according to God (Php 2:13; Ps 81:10).
3) Believe according to God (Heb 10:38; 11:6).
4) Speak according to God (Pr 18:21; Nu 14:28).
Conclusion: There is no way for human beings?whether highly educated or not?to go beyond the human dimension in their own strength. To live in God’s dimension, we should receive His life and inspiration from His Spirit. That is why Jesus said to Nicodemus, “No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
