The Last Command
(Mark 16:17-20)
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.
20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

We heed and revere our parents’ last wishes and leaders’ last will. The consequence of what Jesus said to His disciples before He was ascended to heaven is far greater than any of them.

1. Driving out demons
1) Demons are the ones who first met Adam aside from God
2) Demons are the ones who came to Jesus before the beginning of His public ministry
3) Demons are the ones who persistently come to us next to God
4) Demons are the spokespersons of all sorts of evil and the cause of Job’s suffering who lost everything by the demons including wealth, children, physical health, a wife and friends.
5) Jesus disarmed the demons on the Cross
- Now we must fight against the demons by paying the utmost attention on them following God.
- Demons are there to interfere, oppress, and depress us to the point of giving up our lives.
2. Speaking in new tongues
1) It makes us clearly realize the presence of the Spirit inside us.
2) It gives us comfort and refreshment.
- The religion of law, system, and formality deprives us of joy and hope.
- In faith, there must be peace, joy, hope, and happiness.
3. Picking up snakes
1) Secularist humanitarian culture, art, learning, and philosophy
2) Pride and arrogance
3) Greed and undue desires ? the culture of the tower of Babel and the degraded life in Sodom and Gomorrah
4) We must lead a life with discernment ? the teachings of the words and the Spirit
4. Never being hurt
1) As Moses lifted up a snake in the desert
2) The powerful antidote of the Cross of Jesus Christ
- Realize the grace of the Cross, fix your eyes on it at all times, put your faith in it and speak of it strongly.
5. Healing by laying on of hands
1) Diseases have their roots in sins ? God hates sins
2) Jesus handled diseases next to sin in His ministry and His atonement
3) Laying on of hands means we should pray with compassion and love as if we carry the burdens together.
4) Give thanks and proclaim with strong faith that you will get well.

The most fundamental key to the health, growth, and advancement of faith is these words. The devil exercises its power to the full to make us negligent to these words at church. Practicing on these words will make our churches and faith alive.
