The Faith of Peter
(Matthew 17:20, Mark 11:21-24)
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Apostle Peter was the head pupil of Jesus among the twelve. He came from an ordinary family and worked as a fisherman who was impetuous and adventurous. But he also loved and faithfully followed Jesus. Today, I’d like to talk about the incidents he experienced while following Jesus, which helped the growth of his faith.

1. Chosen to be a disciple
1) By the Lake of Gennesaret, Jesus got on Peter’s boat and taught the people from the boat
2) The reason why people washed their nets only at morning
① Fish comes up onto shallow water only at night, and then returns to deep water as the Sun rises
② Though they worked all night, they failed to catch a single fish
3) Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch
① Rhema from the Lord Himself ? creative faith
② It was the faith of Jesus, not that of Peter
- Because you say so, I will let down the nets
③ The boat was full of fish * (Luke 5:6)
-From now on you will catch people
4) Jesus appeared before His disciples after the resurrection
① Peter went to the lake of Tiberias in order to catch fish
- They caught nothing that night
② Jesus came to the shore at dawn - Haven’t you any fish? Throw your net on the right side of the boat
They were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish

2. Jesus who walked on the lake
1) Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid * (Matthew 14:28-31)
- “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water”(Asking for rhema)
2) He walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and began to sink
3) You of little faith, why did you doubt?

3. The experience the fig tree was withered
1) The fig tree Jesus cursed ? It became withered the next morning
2) Peter’s question and the Lord’s answer * (Mark 11:21-24, Matthew 17:20)
3) Ordinary faith
① Believe in God
② Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it
③ Command with confidence
④ The quantity of faith
㉮ Disciples’ little faith ? Faith of fixing their eyes on doubt
㉯ Faith as small as a mustard seed * (Matthew 17:20)

Peter experienced the work of the creative faith through rhema of the Lord and the ordinary faith that a believer is capable of exercising.
