The God Who Became a Man
(Matt. 1:18~25)

Nowadays we see many foreigners acquiring Korean citizenship and legally becoming Koreans. However, in order to become true Koreans, they need to be born to Korean parents. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the body of the Virgin Mary, and was born as a complete human being. Even though He is God in very nature, He came as a human being and became the sin offering for the salvation of humanity.

1. A son is given to us
1) Isaiah 9:6 records the coming Messiah as “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.” (Isa. 9:6)
2) Jesus who is the Prince of Peace gives us true peace. (John 14:27)
3) Jesus who came as the Messiah governs things with justice and righteousness. (Isa. 9:7)

2. We did not esteem him
1) The Bible records Jesus who came as a human being as follows. “He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. HE had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hid their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” (Isa. 53:1~3)
2) Jesus who being in very nature God became a human being for our salvation. (Phil. 2:6~8)

3. The Lord has laid on him the sins of us all
1) Jesus’ sufferings were to redeem us from our sins. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (Isa. 53:4~9)
2) Because of Jesus’ sufferings on the cross, we can enjoy peace and received healing. (1 Peter 2:24)

Conclusion
Jesus’ coming is the most blessed news in humanity. Jesus was born as a complete human being and died on the cross for people’s sins and transgressions. Therefore, as long as people believe in Jesus, they will be saved and are able to live their lives in the midst of joy and hope as the children of God.
