The River of the Holy Spirit

Ezekiel 47:1-5 (NIV)
?? The man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar. 2 He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was flowing from the south side. 3 As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. 4 He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. 5 He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in?봞 river that no one could cross.??

All of us who believe in Jesus must live guided by the Holy Spirit throughout our lives. When we do so, we can live a fruitful life with our faith growing stronger. Ezekiel saw in a vision that water was flowing down from south of the altar and it reached his ankles, knees, waist, and his whole body.혻

1. A life of worship (Ezekiel 47:3).
The ankles immersed in water represent steps toward the world that have been changed into steps toward the church and toward the kingdom of God. The foundation for a life of faith should be built on the worship of God. When we put priority on worship and gather diligently to worship the Lord, His grace will increase within us even more. Our wounded hearts and bodies will be healed, and problems will be solved through the water of the Holy Spirit flowing from the altar of God.

2. A life of prayer (Ezekiel 47:4).
The knees immersed in water suggest that one has reached the stage of praying to the Lord on his knees. Prayer is conversation with the Lord. It is just like breath to our spirit. When a husband and wife and children and parents have a falling out because they do not talk, a problem occurs. Likewise, if we do not talk to the Lord, a problem occurs. Therefore, we must develop a habit of prayer. Seek the Lord and receive His grace through prayer. The miracles of God will appear when we pray with our whole heart.

3. A life of humility (Ezekiel 47:4).
Again he measured, and the water reached his waist. This indicates the humility that all Christians should have. Humankind who fell into depravity live their own self-centered life. People living by their own standards judge the faith of others and easily become arrogant. But God is the most high. At the Last Supper, Jesus showed humility by washing the disciple?셲 feet (Jn 13:14-15). We must discipline ourselves and live a life of humility to keep from forgetting God?셲 grace.혻

4. A life of dedication (Ezekiel 47:5).
The whole body immersed in water signifies that one is completely seized by the Holy Spirit. This means a life that always gives thanks to the Lord for His grace, that tries to live according to His will beyond worldly things, and that lives in contentment and joy in the Lord. This means faith that confesses that Christ lives in me (Gal 2:20). God blesses His children who live a life of dedication, to bear abundant fruit in their lives.

Brothers and sisters, which stage are you in? I pray that you may all be Spirit filled and become a person of worship, a person of prayer, and a person of humility. I also pray that you will dedicate your life to the Lord and bear abundant fruit, bringing all glory to Him.
