The Final Command of Jesus

Mk 16:14-18, NIV
??4 Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.혻15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

People leave their most precious words in their will or on their deathbed. Jesus left His final words as well before he died, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." With Jesus??command in mind, we need to reexamine our faith and live a life that is pleasing to the Lord.

1. A life living by faith (Mk 16:14).

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples and rebuked them for their lack of faith and the insensitivity of their hearts. The life of faith involves action, and thus without faith, no work is achieved. This is why Jesus rebuked His disciples for their lack of faith (Heb 11:6). Do we live as people of faith? Jesus is looking for a person of faith. God works with people of faith. Those who entered the land of Canaan were Joshua and Caleb?봯eople of faith. Therefore, people of faith and hope please God.

2. A life living as a witness to the Gospel (Mk 16:15).

Jesus came to this earth to save humankind and died on the Cross for that purpose. Before ascending to heaven, He earnestly asked His disciples to preach the Gospel to all creation. This is called the Great Commission for missions. Winning souls is of the greatest concern to Jesus. That is why we have to live our lives as a witness to the Gospel. The movement of the Holy Spirit is the movement of mission. The Holy Spirit movement of the Full Gospel Church woke up Korean churches. Spirit-filled believers from the Full Gospel Church preached the Gospel to every place in Seoul and sent missionaries throughout the five oceans and six continents (Ac 1:8). We need to inherit this passion, and preach the Gospel with the spirit of a martyr.

3. A life living with signs accompanying those who believe (Mk 16:17-18).

Signs accompany those who believe in Jesus and depend on Him. We should live with signs accompanying us, just as Jesus said. In the name of Jesus, depending on His blood, we must drive out demons (Ac 2:4). By the power of the Holy Spirit, we must drive out the power of Satan (Jas 4:7; 1Pe 5:8-9). We must guard our hearts, thoughts, words, and dreams to live a life of success and to glorify God. Furthermore, when we lay our hands on the sick, a miracle of healing must be performed by the power in the name of Jesus (Isa 53:5; Ex 15:26; Mt 10:1).

Today, signs take place in the lives of people of faith. Be a person of faith with whom God is pleased. Boldly bear witness to the Gospel to obey the Great Commission of Jesus. Be a powerful worker of the Lord who is filled with the Holy Spirit and to whom the signs of faith take place. Live in obedience to the Word, and our Lord will grant the blessings of Immanuel in your life.
