The Great Commission of Jesus

Matthew 28:18-20, NIV

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Matthew chapter 28 verses18-20 contain the last words of Jesus Christ to His disciples before He ascended to heaven. These last words are called, ?쏷he Great Commission of Jesus.??In short, these words call for mission?봯reaching the Gospel. Preaching the Gospel is a delight to God, a mission for all believers, and the goal of the Church.

혻1. The mission that is carried out through the authority of Jesus Christ
(Mt 28:18).

Jesus Christ is the only one who has all authority in heaven and on earth (Php 2:9-11). Mission, preaching the Gospel, is an act of confessing that Jesus Christ is our Savior. In order to have God?셲 work revealed in our mission, we need to solely rely on Jesus who has all authority, and receive the power of the Holy Spirit. When we receive the power of the Holy Spirit, we can be witnesses of the Gospel (Ac 1:8). When we humble ourselves before the Lord and give all the glory to Jesus, the Lord will continue to use us to accomplish His great work.

2. The mission that reaches out for lost souls (Mt 28:19).

To preach the Gospel, we need to abandon certain things first (Ge 12:1-3). Those things are arrogance, stubbornness, disobedience, and our old self. Mission commands us to leave where we are and to head for other destinations (Jnh 1:2). We have to go to villages, hospitals, and workplaces. We have to go into the world and follow the path of mission. This is the Great Commission. For those souls who are in rags, hunger, and are underprivileged, we have to go to them with the love of Jesus Christ. For the sake of true mission, we must leave our current situation and go to the fields of life where they are calling out, ?쏞ome and help us.?? 혻혻혻혻
3. The mission that makes disciples of Christ (Mt 28:19).

For three years, Jesus discipled the fishermen of Galilee, who were not considered to be of much worth, and He ordered them to make others disciples of Jesus. True disciples are those who are filled with the Holy Spirit (Ac 1:5), because being filled with the Spirit is being filled with Jesus. To become true disciples filled with the Holy Spirit, we need to have confidence in salvation, and daily practice applying God?셲 Word in our lives (Ps 1:1-3). I pray that you will become Jesus??disciples who are filled with the Holy Spirit and with the Word of God, to be like Jesus every day (Heb 4:12).

4. The mission in which Jesus is with us (Mt 28:20).

Jesus personally promised that He would be with us when we preach the Gospel. Jesus, who has overcome the world, is always with us (Jn 16:33). Let us be disciples who walk with Jesus. I pray that you will walk with Jesus throughout your whole life and preach the Gospel, accompanied by Him.

Let us preach the Gospel until the day we die. I pray that you will make every effort to spread the Gospel, and be pleasing to the Lord.
