Who Can Be against Us?

Romans 8:31-37, NIV
31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all?봦ow will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died?봫ore than that, who was raised to life?봧s at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
36 As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Many people in this world lose the will to live when they are faced with despair. Sometimes Christians are also discouraged when they face despair, whether it is expected or not. But no matter what happens, we must remember that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him (Ro 8:28). When we rely on the Word, hold onto the Cross, and march forward with faith, we will ultimately gain the victory.

1. Who can be against us? (v.31).
God is with us and works for us. The moment we receive Jesus as our Savior, we become a child of God. Until we go to heaven, God always walks with us?봞nytime, anywhere?봡uring a time of trouble (Mt 28:20). Therefore, we need not fear any distress or hardship that approaches us, because from the moment we believe in Jesus Christ, we become eternal victors (Jn 16:33). Our old, sinful self was nailed to death on the Cross, and we have been born again through Jesus as eternal beings and victors. I pray that we will not draw back, but hold onto the Cross and march forward with faith when we face trouble and fear.

2. Who is he that condemns? (v.34).
Many people groan with a loser?셲 spirit, victimized by the guilt and pain of their past. Even after they have come to faith in Jesus, their painful wounds from the past keep haunting them and weakening their faith. However, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation (2 Co 5:17). Because of the precious blood of Jesus that freed us from all sin, no one can point their finger at us and call us sinners. The precious blood of Jesus has the power of victory (Rev 12:11). Rely on the power of the precious blood of Jesus, and rise up from the bitterness of past wounds and a sense of guilt. Take a look at yourself; you are changed in Jesus. We have become a new creation?봆od?셲 beloved children.

3. Who shall separate us from the love of Jesus Christ? (v.35).
Nothing can separate us from the love of Jesus, whether it be any trouble or any pain brought on by the circumstances in this world (Ro 8:38-39). Even though the whole world deserts us, our Lord Jesus will never leave us. Rather, He walks closely with us when we are in trouble. No matter how sad or lonely we are, we can rise up again, because Jesus recognizes us and loves us (Ro 8:37). No matter how desperate a situation you are facing, fix your eyes on the Cross, and march forward. When Jesus is with us, we can triumph??even in the midst of despair.

The love of Jesus Christ is eternal. No one can separate us from the love of Jesus Christ. No matter what happens to us, we will overcome it because of Jesus who loves us.
