癤풲he Suffering of Jesus
(Isaiah 53:5)

The Cross is the essence of our Christian faith. When we fully realize the grace of Jesus' suffering on the cross, we will love the Lord more and serve Him with unwavering faith throughout our lives. The prophet Isaiah prophesied Jesus' suffering in detail 700 years before He came. Isaiah 53:5 explained Jesus??suffering in four aspects.혻혻혻

1. Jesus forgave us for our transgressions
Isaiah said: "He was pierced for our transgressions" (Isa 53:5a). Jesus was crucified on the cross for our transgressions; mankind has rebelled against God, and each has lived his life in his own disobedience (Isa 1:2). In unrighteousness and filth; we have all lived by our own will and waywardness, and sinned in the presence of God. This is why Jesus was pierced in his head, hands, feet, and sides, and shed his blood.

2. Jesus bore our sins
Isaiah said: "He was crushed for our iniquities.??(Isa 53:5b). Jesus suffered a most cruel and severe death on the cross to solve the problem of sin and despair that has been rooted in all human beings since Adam and Eve (Ro 5:12). Just as those who were bitten in the desert were healed, by looking at the snake that Moses put up on a pole (Jn 3:14-15): so too are all saved from sin and death, who look up to Jesus who was crucified on the cross.

3. Jesus brought us peace
Isaiah said: "The punishment that brought us peace was upon him," (Isa 53:5c). Since Jesus was punished in our stead; our relationship with God is restored and we have peace (Col 1:19-20). Jesus Christ opened a way of reconciliation on the cross. His one hand was stretched out to God, and the other to mankind. He was a bridge between God and man. Now anyone who believes in Jesus can come to God with joy, and thanksgiving.

4. Jesus healed our wounds
Isaiah said: ?쏝y his wounds we are healed??(Isa 53:5d). When Jesus was flogged, his back was stripped open and his blood flowed out (Mt 27:26). The soldiers also spat on Jesus' face, and struck him with their fists and the palms of their hands (Mt 26:27, 27:30). Why did Jesus suffer so? He suffered to heal all our diseases and infirmities caused by human sins. Even today, when we look to the cross of our Lord, Jesus heals our spirit, soul and body (Heb 13:8).

I hope that, throughout your short life, you will give thanks for this marvelous grace that Jesus granted you through His suffering on the cross, live for the glory of God.
