癤풵ere Not Our Hearts Burning
(Lk 24:30-35)

The fullness of the Holy Spirit is the most important thing in our life of faith. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we can live a powerful life of faith. Many people followed Jesus while He was in this world: but when He died on the cross they all despaired, either for lack of knowledge of His resurrection or they did not believe it; and so they each went their own way.혻혻

1. The road to Emmaus
To live one?셲 life believing and following Jesus is pleasant and thankful; however this is not always comfortable and easy. Even as Christians many unexpected problems occur. Often Christians forget and forsake Jesus because of their problems; and when they do so they find a life of despair. The prodigal son is a good example of leaving his father to ultimately come to despair as his end (Lk 15:11-16). In Luke 10 we read of a man on route to Jerusalem from Jericho who meets robbers on the way and is left beaten near death; and stripped of all his money. Despair seems to meet man at many corners of his life, threatening to take him down one last time. 혻

2. Jesus walked along with them
Jesus came, walked and talked along the Emmaus Road with some of his disciples (Lk 24:15). However these disciples were in despair and could not recognize their Lord (Lk 24:16). Lots of people live in grief and despair and do not recognize Jesus beside them. We must open our blind spiritual eyes. We must meet Jesus in times of despair (Lk 24:25-27). I hope that you listen to the Words of Jesus during your worship services (Mt 11:28, Isa 41:10, Jos 1:5-6). You will then be strengthened and encouraged in the Word (Lk 24:30).혻 May you always meditate on the Word and live, remembering the Lord (Lk 22:19).

3. Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit
The disciples who met Jesus on the Emmaus Road that day said to each other: "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?" (Lk 24:32) When the Word is being spoken; our hearts will burn within us. We will sense the Holy Spirit at work within us. On the day of Pentecost Jesus??disciples prayed earnestly according to the Word of promise given to them; and they experienced a marvelous revival as the Holy Spirit descended upon them. Thereafter, filled with both the Word and the Holy Spirit; the first believers, as compelled with the love of Jesus in their hearts, devoted themselves to the work of the Lord. We should also be filled with the Word and the Holy Spirit like the first believers as the continual fullness of the Holy Spirit will lead us to victory.

I desire that you meet Jesus, that you be changed by the Word, having fervent faith. I hope that you are always filled with the Word and the Holy Spirit; and that you eagerly work for the Lord as witnesses of the Gospel.혻
