Light every evening
(2 Chronicles 13:10-12)

This world is a spiritual battle field. We must have a clear sense of purpose in order to win both small and large spiritual battles. We also must have a clear understanding of where we came from, why we are living, and where we are going. Today, I would like to share a message with you about the secret to victory in our spiritual battles.

1. The war between Israel and Judah
There were the war between Israel and Judah. Abijah went into battle with his military which consisted of four hundred thousand men, while Jeroboam drew up a battle line against him with eight hundred thousand men. Judah was in an unfavorable situation in regards to the number of men in his army. Yet, the key to victory in battle does not depend upon the number of people on our side. It depends on which side God is on. When we stand firm on God's side, God will give us the victory.

2. Israel’s problems
The northern kingdom of Israel committed two sins which lead to their defeat. First of all, Jeroboam had betrayed king Solomon by summoning wicked men to rebel against the house of the king’s son, Rehoboam in order to establish an independent kingdom of Israel. That was an act of rebellion against the kingdom of God. Jeroboam also made golden calves, dismissed the Levites and God’s priests, and appointed whoever brought cattle as priests. Therefore, because of their rebellion against the king and the Lord, they could not remain intact.

3. Judah’s service to God
On the other hand, the southern kingdom of Judah did not rebel against God, but served Him wholeheartedly. Every morning and evening they presented burnt offerings before the Lord. They did so to show their heart of devotion to God. They set out bread on the table of Showbread which symbolizes Jesus as the bread of life. They also made sure the lamps on the golden lamp stand remained lit for 24 hours. This fire symbolizes the fire of the Holy Spirit. When the night of hardship comes near us, we have to light the fire of the Holy Spirit. We must light the fire of the Holy Spirit and obey the commands of God.

4. God together with Judah
The battle belongs to God. God became their head and went with Judah to give them victory when they fought against Israel. When God is with us we will always be victorious. When Joseph was sold as a slave, for 13 years in Egypt he prospered because God was with him. When we constantly love and serve God, God will give us the victory.

When we pass through spiritual battles, we must walk with God and boast in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, then God will give us the victory.
