Taste and See that the Lord Is Good
(Psalm 34:1-10)

Throughout his life, David had a lot of hardships. Psalm 34 is a song which he sang during his trials. In the midst of danger, he believed in and relied only on God.

1. Praise the Lord (Psalm 34:1-3)
Despite his desperate situation, David never failed to praise and extol the Lord. He was a godly man with absolute positivity. Hearing David's praise and gratitude, those who were afflicted and destitute were comforted and rejoiced. David persuades us to glorify the Lord together with him. All of us should praise God's loftiness and greatness. When we do this, the Lord abides in the middle of his praise. Therefore we should praise him all the more because we have troubles.
2. Pray to the Lord (Psalm 34:4-7)
God listens to our prayers and answers them. When David prayed to God in the midst of hardship, God answered and delivered him from all his fears. As in David's case, when we cry out to God with faith, he restores us and makes comfort and peace comes upon us. As we pray eagerly to him by turning our eyes upon him, the angel of the Lord encamps around us, who fear him and he delivers us.
3. Experience that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8)
His people should taste and see that the Lord is good. His goodness refers to his providence, abundant grace and kindness. Just knowing his grace is not enough. We need to taste and experience it in person. For this sake we should be filled with the Word and the Holy Spirit. This kind of personal experience makes our faith firm.
4. Fear the Lord (Psalm 34:9-10)
David persuades God's people to fear and seek him. If we serve him faithfully, we will have abundant grace and God will never fail to provide us with necessary things during this life. Therefore I pray that you will enjoy his abundance by fearing him.

Like David, when you have troubles, you should praise the Lord and pray to him eagerly. Taste the goodness of the Lord, who gives you salvation and comfort. Besides, I pray that you will fear the Lord and live a victorious life by seeking him.
