癤풲he Cross of Jesus, Our Boast
(1 Corinthians 1:18-25)

The first thing that is visible to us in the church is the cross. The cross is the symbol of salvation and the core of Christian faith. 2000 years ago, bearing the whole burden of sin, sickness and death, Jesus completed the history of human salvation by dying on the cross.

I. The power of God manifested in the cross

The power of God's salvation is manifested혻in the cross of Jesus. Since Adam and Eve, the ancestors of humans sinned and were corrupted, all humankind has been in Sin. Because of this, God of justice had His one and only Son Jesus die on the cross in order to pay the debt of our sins. Therefore, whoever believes in Jesus is saved and becomes children of God. There is no other way to salvation except through Jesus (John 14:6). The church is the ark of salvation. The head of the church is Jesus Christ and the church is the body of Christ. Therefore, we should meet Jesus, our Savior in the church through worship, through communion, and through praise, prayer and the Word. Furthermore, we should propagate the power of the salvation of the cross to the end of the world.

II. The life that we boast the cross in

As the saving work of Jesus Christ was completed on the cross, we must live a life that boasts of the cross. God opposes the proud. Therefore, we should humble ourselves before the cross and live a life that boasts of and lifts up Jesus we met and the cross of Jesus Christ (Galatians 6:14). The life that boasts of the cross is the life of a witness. Therefore, receiving the power which the Holy Spirit gives to us, all of us should become witnesses of Jesus Christ to all nations (Acts 1:8).

III. The grace given through the cross of Jesus

If we believe in Jesus, we are saved and the work of the wisdom, righteousness, and holiness of Jesus is revealed to us as the Holy Spirit indwells our hearts. Through us the Holy Spirit is showing the precious work of Jesus in this land even now. Now is ?쁳he Era of the Holy Spirit'. As many people today do not receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit, they cannot live a life of victory in the world which is filled with evil spirits. Therefore all of us must receive the blessing of Abraham by being filled with the Holy Spirit (Galatians 3:14). Besides, the wisdom of God should be given to us in the Holy Spirit on a daily basis. Then the Holy Spirit will help us understand the will of God and live a righteous and holy life.

We are saved not because of human merits and strengths. Without the power of the cross of Jesus Christ, none can be saved. Therefore, we should be always abundantly thankful for the saving grace of the cross and live a life of boasting of only the cross.
