Prepare the way for the Lord
(Lk. 3:3-6)

Churches keep four Sundays as Advent before Christmas day. During that period, we should mediate on Jesus and be prepared to accept Jesus who will come to us again by looking back on our life.

1. Repent sins
When we repent our sins, we can be proper to meet Jesus. John asked us to repent sins by the Jordan River which was baptism of repentance. (Lk. 3:3) The real repentance is related to prepare the road for Jesus to come because we can live honestly and righteously through repentance. If we are tempted by the world and things in the world, we cannot love Jesus. (1Jn. 2:13) Also, we should repent our sins not to be lost in the world. We should look at Jesus who is perfecter of our faith. (Heb. 12:2) Then, we can become the servant of God whom God use.
2. Be humble
When we are humble, we can have right condition to meet Jesus. John said that every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. (Lk. 3:5a) There are many people wandering the valley of death as they haven't heard of the gospel. They don't have peace in their minds and pains caused by wounds that are not healed. To lift them out of valley with tears and despair, we should spread the gospel. (2 Tim 4:2) We should be humble enough to confess that we are the tools of God. (Lk. 17:10) Then, we are praised servants of God.
3. Be gentle

When we are gentle, we can be sincere enough to meet Jesus. John asked crooked to be straight and the rough ways smooth. The devils and Satan captured the soul and body of people so that they have distorted and destroyed self-image. People are more likely to live with their self-image becoming angry, conflicted and stained with greed and selfishness. However, we should resemble Jesus who didn't lose his gently heart even in the suffering of the Cross so that we can keep our heart under any hardships and adversity. (Mk.1:29)
