I shall not be in want
(Ps. 23:1-3)

God whom we serve is good. God wants to give the best things to us whom God saves through Jesus. Psalm chapter 23 is the song of David looking back on his life and giving thanks to God with his positive faith.

1. God who is our shepherd
God says he becomes our shepherd (Ps. 23:1). A young David kept his herds of sheep, so he knew the importance of a shepherd and the behaviors of sheep. Sheep are very mild and weak so they couldn't protect themselves from their predators. They are farsightedness, timid and easily become dirty because of white furs so they need their protector. Likewise, we are weak and powerless against Satan without God. So we should believe in God who is our shepherd and obey Him. Then we will enjoy real satisfaction, happiness and peace.

2. God who leads us
David confessed that God leads us. A shepherd wakes up early in the morning to lead his sheep to the green pasture for them to eat grasses and guides them to water for them to release thirst. God as our shepherd fills our needs daily. The green pasture is the words of God because we are sheep of God. When we intake the Word of God, we can beat the world and gain courage and hope of life. Also, the waterside for us to take a rest is under the shadow of the cross of Jesus. We should pray every day to remain the shadow of the cross. Whenever we come before the cross, we will have the blessings of being forgiven, filled with the fullness of the Holy Spirit and the grace of eternal life in our soul.

3. God who restores our soul
David said that he restores our soul and guides us in paths of righteousness for his name's sake (Ps. 23:3). When sheep upside down, it cannot stand alone. It becomes rigid and dies slowly or is attacked by a predator. So a shepherd makes it stand up. God restores us when we are frustrated because of sins, diseases, failures and sadness. To experience restoration, we should accept Jesus and live with the Word of God. When we walk in the path of righteousness to follow the will of God, we will go through the miracle of God beyond our circumstances and conditions.
