The LORD will hand you over to me
(1Sam. 17:45-47)

We meet big and small problems while living. We should not look at problems, but at the Almighty God and depend on God. Then, we can experience the victory that David had won by beating the Goliath.

1. Goliath confronting us

During the Period of King Saul, the enemy Philistines gathered their forces for war with the Giant, Goliath. He was 3meters in height and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels and only the end of pear weighed 7hundred shekels. (1Sam. 17:4-5) No one in Israel was able to fight against him. Likewise, we face Goliath-like problems such as diseases, financial problems and false accusations. In our hearts is there the Goliath such as arrogance and inferior feelings. To fight against theses Goliath like problems, we should drive out fears at first. (Isa. 41:10) We cannot beat the Goliath in our life. Therefore, we should look for the help of God by depending on God.

2. What we have

David didn't have fears on looking the Giant. He looked at God who is bigger and greater than the Giant. So he went forward with the name of God, not with the sword and spear. (1Sam. 17:45) David depended on the power of God instead of resting on human-made weapons. We have the power of the name of God through Jesus who was sent for us. Peter and John used the power of the name of Jesus to heal the crippled man. Therefore, we should depend on the name of God so that we can overcome various difficulties and problems in our life

3. The great victory given to us

David confirmed that he would win against the Giant because wars belonged to God. (1Sam. 17:46-47) Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, David slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead and killed Goliath. David cut the head of Goliath. Looking this scene, the Philistines soldiers ran away. All the wars before us belong to God for we are the children of God. God will show himself during wars and make the things we are boastful shameful and give us abundant victories. Therefore, we should be armed with the power of the blood of Jesus and filled with the fullness of the word of God and the Holy Spirit.
