The Strong Ones Went to Jacob
(Ge. 30:37-43)

The common point among successful people is passion found in them. They have passion to challenge toward their concrete goals. We should have clear vision and hope driven by God as christians while marching with faith.

1. Jacob’s dream
Jacob left his hometown and arrived at Haran where his uncle had lived. He served his uncle faithfully and became the rich person because he was blessed by God. With God, we can be blessed with the grace of God. However, Laban did not pay the wages to Jacob properly. That's why Jacob asked his uncle to give him every speckled or spotted sheep and every spotted or speckled goat. He dreamed of increasing number of every speckled or spotted sheep and every spotted or speckled goat. God gives his grace to the people have a dream based on the word of God.

2. Jacob’s faith
Jacob took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches. Then he placed the peeled branches in all the watering troughs, so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink. When the flocks were in heat and came to drink they mated in front of the branches. And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted. They belonged to Jacob. The peeled-off branches symbolize the cross of Jesus. Jesus was wounded because of our sins, curses, poverty, sickness and death. We should look at the cross of Jesus to march forward to the holy vision given by Jesus. Everything goes well once we are with God. (Ps. 37:4-5)

3. Jacob’s prosperity
Due to this event, Jacob became the richer person with own large flocks, and maidservants and menservants, and camels and donkeys. The blessing came from God. Our lives are like this. To be successful in our life, we need God who gives us his help and grace. Jesus became poor to make us rich by clearing our poverty and curses on the cross. As a result, we are already given the blessing of Abraham in Jesus. Now, we should share what we have with other people. Use your time and money for the church and underprivileged neighbors around you. Then God will give you much more blessing.
