The Prayer Offered in Faith
(Jas. 5:13~16)
Prayer is one of the greatest gifts God has given us. It is amazing privilege and power through which we ask for help to God. I hope we all enjoy victorious life by using the privilege of prayer.
1. Pray when suffering comes
There are unexpected small or big hardships come to our lives. If we cannot avoid them, we should overcome them wisely. Adversities make us painful, uncomfortable and shameful. This is why there are many people who start grumbling when facing difficult moments. But the way to overcome hardships is not grumbling but being patient. If we endure hardships with faith, our faith is being trained and getting mature through the hardships. To endure the hardships, prayer is absolutely needed. When we pray, complaints, grumbles and doubts will be taken away from our heart and we will be filled with faith, joy and thanksgiving that God gives us. No matter how great hardships may come, all those tied things will be untied when we earnestly pray together and as a result the prosperous way will be opened. (Ac. 16:26)
2. Pray when sickness comes
The most difficult hardship to endure is getting diseases. Our mind and body are connected. Once our body gets sick, our mind gets weaken. At that moment, we should be prayed by the servants of God. The spiritual leaders tend to be anointed with special spiritual power to lead the community. Also, diseases can be the results of sins. Then, we should repent our sins of living according to our own desires and of making God sad. The cross of Jesus has solved the matters of sins. Depending on the cross of Jesus and praying hard with faith, our body and mind will be completely healed. (Mk. 16:17-18)
3. Pray with faith
Some people think that a very few people will get the answers of God through the prayers. They don't have expectation to receive the answers so the attitude may be lukewarm. However, anyone can receive the answers of God. Elijah known as the man of miracles was a man just like us, so he too was afraid, made excuses and ran away. (Jas. 5:17-18) The reason why Elijah became the man of miracles was that he was the man of prayer.
In the time of troubles and diseases, cry out by praying hard before God. God will listen to us and perform great miracles in our lives.
