Raise up Your Holy Hands
(Ex. 17:8~13)

Our identity has changed from the slaves of the Satan to the children of God. However, the demons do not give up falling us with attacking us ceaselessly. How do we act when the demons attack us?

1. Moses who went to the top of the hill
When Israel people crossed the desert, Amalekites attacked. When the battle started, Moses did not encourage people to fight in the battlefield. Instead, Moses asked Joshua to command people in the battlefield while he went to the top of the hill. (Ex. 17:9) It was because he wanted to figure out what was happening in the battlefield by being away from the middle of the war. When we just stand in the place of problem, we are obsessed with the visible situations without knowing the cores of the problems. Then, we are frustrated and make problems worse by blaming other people. Just as Moses did, we should go to the mountain of prayer so that we can see the problems with the view of God.

2. Raise your hands in prayer
Moses prayed with his hands up. Lifting one’s hands up means “surrender.” Moses acknowledged that God, not himself, was the leader of Israel and committed everything to Him. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. (Ex 17:11) The winning war did not depend on the sword of Joshua. Instead, it was shaped by the exhausted hands of Moses who kept praying hard. When we take our problems to God with praying hard, God will allow us to win the war. Praying alone sometimes make us hard. We need someone to pray with us together. When we pray for one another, the miracles of God will happen.

3. God will fight from generation to generation
When Moses praying hard, God fought against the enemies and defeated the Amalekites. At the end of the war, Moses recorded that God gave them the victory and set the altar to give thanks to God. When we pray, God fights for us. God fights against the war. What we must do is to take our problems to God and pray with giving thanks and praises. Let us hold our hands up. God of victory will be with His people who shout “Yahweh-Nissi”, by protecting them and helping them to overcome all the hardships.
