Streams of Living Water Will Flow from within Him
(Jn. 4:13-14, 7:37-38)
This era is the time of thirst. People who stand before frustration feel thirsty, looking for the real hope. Only Jesus can save us out of this suffering.
1. A thirsty life
The woman appearing in John chapter 4 was living with thirst in her life. She even married 5 times but failed. She was living with a 6th man but not married. Jesus knew she was thirsty spiritually and told her about the living water to eternity. (Jn. 4:13-14) Listening to what Jesus said, she bagged Jesus to give her the living water so that she would not be thirty again. What kind of thirst do you have now? Just like the Samaritan woman, come before Jesus and ask Jesus to give you a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
2. Jesus who gives the living water
Ernest Hemingway was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature so he had a great fame and lived freely. However, he couldn't overcome empty feeling at his later life. Sadly, he was shot to death. Money, fame, social status, pleasure cannot feel our empty hearts. When we drink the living water before Jesus, the deeply rooted thirst will disappear. Let us not be wandered in the world to remove our thirst. Rather, come before Jesus and drink the living water thereby owning the real joy and peace.
3. A life overflowing with the living water
The living water said by Jesus means the fullness of the Holy Spirit. The prophet, Joel prophesied that God will pour out the Holy Spirit to all people at the last time. (Jo. 2:28) The fullness of the Holy Spirit can be endowed to everyone regardless of age, gender, and social status. Our life will be transformed once we are filled with the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Before being filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples of Jesus ran away from Jesus when Jesus was captured. On the contrary, they were brave enough to throw their lives to spread the gospel, which brought about the great revival of Jerusalem. What we need today is the overflowing water of the Holy Spirit. Let us desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit. And let us pray to see the grace of the Holy Spirit overflowing in our life.
