Go Outside and Look Up at the Heavens
(Ge. 15:1-6)

Abraham called as the ancestor of faith had faults and problems. However, he is called the ancestor of Faith as he had strong faith, devotion, and obedience before God. God who is good sees our faith rather than our faults and mistakes.

1. God presenting Himself in His words
We are living in the floods of words. We receive overflowing words and messages through various media and social network service. However, the words from the world make our heart worried and anxious. We should open our ears of spirit to listen to the voice of God, which will give us dreams and hopes. God asked Abram not to be afraid as God became his shield and He became the great reward. (Ge. 15:1). Likewise, God is with us and becomes the shield to protect us from all adversities and enemies. Therefore, we should be brace and take strong heart in God so that we overcome anxiety, worries and fears coming to us.

2. Despair of Abram
Abram left his native village at the age of 75 to obey God, leaving his family and his father’s house. He reached Canaan but he did not have his own children. He was so frustrated as he was old and remained childless. He tried to choose Eliezer to inherit his estate. (Ge. 15:2-3) Like Abram, we face the depressing moments, and plan things ourselves. Sometimes, we get serious diseases and sick seriously. Then we think it is the end and give up. However, we should not give up. When the life gets tougher, we should look at Jesus and depend on Him. God will give those who are in troubles dreams and visions.

3. God who gave dreams and visions
God clearly said Abram that his own children will become the heir when Abram talked about his frustrating reality. God took him out and asked him to look up at the heavens and count the stars. It was to give Abram the visions and dreams. (Ge. 15:5) When Abram remained in his own tent, he could not find any hopes and vision. On the contrary, when he looked at the sky, he received the promised message of having countless offspring like the stars in the heaven. Get out of your tent filled with despair and look up the sky full of hopes. Marching with dreams and visions based on your faith toward God, God will give you amazing grace and countless blessings.
