Sun, Stand Still
(Jos. 10:10-14)


Christian faith is based on the miracles of God. The Bible is full of the miraculous stories and we believe in all those miracles. Jesus raised a dead man from death, opened the eyes of the blind, and healed the sick 2,000 years ago. Similarly, Jesus performs the same miracles today.

1. The attack of the allied of Canaan
The people of Gibeon had made a treaty of peace with Israel as if they were far away from them. Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem was afraid and made allied forces with other 5 tribes and attacked the Gibeon(Jos. 10:3-5). While we are alive, evil spirits attack us with diseases, broken hearts, broken families, and business difficulties. But don't be afraid of them. Look at God who is much bigger than your problems. Then God will deliver us from all our troubles and difficulties.

2. God who gives the victory
Getting the urgent message from the Gibeon, Joshua marched up with his entire army. After an all-night march, Joshua and his army took them by surprise(Jos 10:9). The help of God comes to our life without hesitation. When we seek the help of God in earnest, the help of God comes until the night of despair, sorrow, and troubles passes. In the end, God caused the allied forces to be defeated and fled through the Israeli soldiers, and judged them by sending down great hailstones. Therefore, in times of adversity, we must completely rely on God. Even if we make careless mistakes, we should rely on God so that we can experience God's amazing grace and blessing, which allows us to win.

3. Proclaim with faith
Joshua was ready to win the war. Soon, the sun was going down. When a night would come, it was difficult for the Israeli soldiers to win the war at night. Joshua prayed to God and boldly ordered the sun and moon to stop moving(Jos 10:12). Then God performed a miracle in which the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed setting for a full day. Faith-based prayers should result in a miracle. As a result, we must rely on God, who is always willing to help us. Proclaim with your faith. Miracles happen in your life.
