Come near to God
(James 4:8-12)
Christians are called to be the salt and light of the world. Just as salt adds the flavor to food and light drives away darkness, the presence of Christians should bring joy, happiness, and a vibrant spirit wherever they are. To fulfill this calling, we must remain close to God at all times.

1. Come near to God.
Drawing near to God means distancing ourselves from sin and focusing solely on Him without wavering. When we draw near to God, He draws near to us (James 4:8). Rather than turning to the world, which brings only emptiness and despair, we should seek God through His Word and prayer. If our sin and flaw have created a distance between us and God, we must repent and seek His forgiveness. The Lord will extend mercy and bless those who humble themselves and approach Him with a repentant heart.

2. Humble yourselves before the Lord
Human beings are naturally prone to pride and possess a selfish sinful nature. Even among those who claim to serve God, some live entirely self-centered lives. However, the person God seeks is one who is humble. Those who elevate themselves before God will be humbled, while those who humble themselves will be exalted by God (Matthew 23:12, James 4:10). Although Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords, He humbled Himself to wash His disciples' feet, providing us with the perfect example of humility. May we strive to follow the humility of our Lord Jesus.

3. Do not slander one another.
James, the leader of the Jerusalem church, urged the believers, especially the church leaders, not to speak against one another (James 4:11-12). According to the Bible, the fulfillment of the law is to love our neighbor. If we fail to love and instead speak ill of our neighbor, we are essentially violating and opposing God's law. We are called not to criticize, judge, or cause division, but to love, forgive, and seek unity. "By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:35). I sincerely pray that we may live as true Christians, having nothing to be ashamed of before the Lord's clear command, and that we may consistently show love to one another throughout our lives.
