Jesus, who came to us (II)
(Isaiah 9:6)
The prophet Isaiah, who lived and ministered roughly 700 years before the arrival of Jesus Christ on earth, recorded with remarkable insight about the coming Messiah. Specifically, Isaiah chapter 9 reveals profound truths about Jesus Christ, the Savior of humanity, who would bring true life and joy to the world.

1. Jesus who came as Almighty God
As recorded in the book of Isaiah, Jesus is described as Wonderful Counselor and Mighty God (Isaiah 9:6a). Through His triumph on the cross, He conquered the power of sin and death, achieving eternal triumph. In response, God has exalted Jesus and decreed that every knee in heaven and on earth should bow before His name (Philippians 2:9-10). With our Lord, the Great Conqueror, nothing is impossible. Therefore, we are called not to rely on our own fragile and limited strength, but to fully trust in the Almighty Lord, living a victorious life through Him.

2. Jesus who came as the Everlasting Father
Our Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal God who loves us with the same unchanging love as the Father. The title "Everlasting Father" (Isaiah 9:6b) signifies "the One who possesses eternal nature and is the giver of life." Through His redemptive work on the cross, Jesus has given us true life, and continues to care for us with the tender love of a father for all eternity. Having received the gift of eternal life through Him, we will also live forever, just as Christ is eternal (Romans 5:21). May we always offer sacrifices of gratitude and joy to the Lord, who has so graciously blessed us with the gift of everlasting life.

3. Jesus who came as the Prince of Peace
In a world filled with hatred, conflict, disasters, and war, our Lord Jesus came as the "Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6c). Above all, He came to reconcile humanity to God, bringing peace to those who were once enemies of God. Though wars and disputes continue to plague the world, the new heaven and new earth that Jesus will establish will be a kingdom of love, peace, and righteousness (Isaiah 9:7). May we fully welcome Jesus, the Prince of Peace, as Lord over our homes, churches, workplaces, and every aspect of our lives. And let us dedicate ourselves to being instruments of His peace in every part of our lives.
