A Church that Pleases God
(Ephesians 2:20-22)
The Church is the Ark of Salvation and the Channel of Blessing, established by God upon the Earth. It is not defined by an architecture or physical building, but by the communion of those who believe in and confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Through the Church, God accomplishes His purposes and receives glory.
1. A Church built on Jesus Christ himself as the chief cornerstone
Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church (Ephesians 2:20). The instability of the Church often arises when individuals prioritize their own will over the lordship of Christ, resulting in factions, division, and strife within the body. However, the true owner of the Church is not man, but Jesus Christ Himself. He alone is the only way of salvation, and God has granted Him all authority in heaven and on earth, exalting Him above every name and giving Him the name that is above all names (Philippians 2:9?11). Therefore, we must confess Jesus Christ as Lord, walk in obedience to His will, and live lives that bring glory to God.
2. A church united in the Holy Spirit
The Church is a community united in the Holy Spirit. Just as the whole?building?is joined together and rises to become a holy temple, so must we, being united in the Spirit, labor to build one beautiful fellowship (Ephesians 2:21). To maintain this unity, we are called to preserve the unity of the Spirit through humility, gentleness, patience, and love, bearing with one another in grace (Ephesians 4:1?3). Division and conflict among believers are the work of the enemy, which seek to harm the Body of Christ, the Church. Therefore, it is our sacred duty to preserve the Church in strength by embracing one another in the Lord, walking in love, faithfully fulfilling the Great Commission entrusted to us by Christ, and diligently engaging in missions and charitable works.
3. A church that grows daily
Just as a child matures over time, we, being built together in Christ, are called to grow into spiritually mature members of His body (Ephesians 2:22). We are called to grow daily through the Word and prayer, to serve the marginalized with love, and to be continually transformed into a better version of ourselves. A church that engages in missions and generous giving is a living church. When we commit ourselves to proclaiming the Gospel and loving our neighbors, the glory of God is revealed in the world (Mark 16:15?16). May we be filled with the Holy Spirit, that we may rightly discern God’s will and walk in victory. It is our heartfelt prayer that our church would proclaim the love of Jesus Christ and become a church that brings delight and praise to God.
