The Leader Appointed by God
(Psalm 72:1-7)
History has progressed through the influence of a creative minority. Likewise, Christians are called to be part of this creative minority, equipped with absolute positivity and absolute gratitude, exerting a good influence upon the world. It is God's will that all believers rise as spiritual leaders, guiding others and transforming the world into a place of beauty and righteousness.
1. A leader of Righteousness
God is seeking righteous leaders. A righteous leader is one who judges and acts according to God's will and wisdom, living a life of uprightness that bears no shame before Him. When Solomon became king, he asked for a listening heart, that is, a discerning heart, and this request was pleasing in the sight of God (1 Kings 3:9?10). Moreover, a righteous leader must first live a life approved by God, judge all things according to God's standards, and care for the afflicted with justice (Psalm 72:2?3). In the same way, true Christians must serve the world with righteousness and love, living a life approved by God.
2. A leader who stands with the weak
The people of the world seek fellowship with those who are wealthy or powerful, but Jesus chose to be with the poor, the afflicted, and those who were socially marginalized, serving them with love. In the same way, a person of God must stand with the poor and the oppressed, practicing the love of Christ (Psalm 72:4?5). This truth is also clearly reflected in the life of Joseph, who lived in the fear of God, and the Lord was with him and made all that he did prosper (Genesis 39:21, 23). Jesus also taught the Word, preached the gospel, healed the sick, and fulfilled the needs of the people. Therefore, we too must become essential to the world, like rain on dry ground, just as Jesus was.
3. A leader who brings peace
In our present day, the world is filled with fear and anxiety due to war, famine, and various disasters. Even within our own nation, peace is hindered by ongoing division and conflict. In such a time of confusion, true peace is greatly needed. Jesus came as the Prince of Peace, and He reigns over the world with justice and love (Isaiah 9:6?7). The Psalms declare that the mountains shall bring peace to the people through righteousness, and that the righteous shall prosper (Psalm 72:3, 7). May we all become those who heal a world wounded by conflict and work together to build a world where peace flows like a river through the love of Christ.
