God’s Plan for Us
(Jeremiah 29:11-13)
In this world, there are two courses. One is the path of God, and the other is the path of man. Though many believe in Jesus, they are still unsettled between these two ways. Yet we must resolutely choose the path that brings delight to God. To do so, we must meditate on His Word day and night, that we may come to understand His thoughts toward us and walk in faithful obedience to His divine will.
1. The peace of God that comes upon us
All human beings desire peace of heart, yet in a world filled with sin, true peace cannot be attained. In fact, the more one attempts to find peace in the world, the more one encounters pain and sorrow. Only Jesus Christ can give us genuine peace (John 14:27). The peace that Jesus gives is rooted in the firm assurance that God loves us, accepts us, and helps us. The one who holds this peace does not become anxious, angry, or resentful in any circumstance, but consistently lives in true peace within God.
2. The future and hope that God provides
God gives not only peace but also dreams and hope for the future. Even in the midst of the despair brought by the fall of Judah, Jeremiah declared a message of hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Likewise, we must not be discouraged by present trials but boldly move forward and set our eyes on God’s good plan. God will never abandon us but will remain with us to the very end. Christianity is the religion/ faith of eternal hope that brings an end to the night of suffering and opens the morning of hope. As we move forward holding tightly to God’s hand in faith, He will surely guide us into the future filled with hope (Isaiah 40:31).
3. The God who answers our prayers
God desires to communicate with us, His beloved children, through prayer, and He always answers our prayers (Jeremiah 29:12). Therefore, we must pray to God not only in times of trouble but also in times of peace, as well as in moments of loneliness, weariness, or illness. When we pray with all our heart, God will meet us and reveal great and unsearchable things to us (Jeremiah 33:3). To experience such grace, we must not rely on man but place our complete trust in God alone. When we do so, God will surely meet us and answer our prayers (Jeremiah 29:13). As we cry out to Him earnestly and press forward in faith, without wrestling with the problem itself, we will witness wondrous miracles.
