A life that walks with Jesus
(John 15:1-4)
Man is a lonely being. Since the fall of Adam and Eve, loneliness has taken deep root in the heart of human life. Yet there is One who always walks with us, so that we may never pass through the lonely path alone. He is Jesus, our Savior. On the night before He bore the cross, Jesus spoke words of comfort and hope to His disciples in the upper room and promised that He would remain with us even to this day.
1. Jesus, who is the true vine
Jesus said that He is the true vine and that we are the branches attached to the vine (John 15:1). Just as a branch must remain connected to the vine in order to receive life and bear fruit, so too can we enjoy spiritual life and abundance only when we remain in the Lord. In contrast, just as a branch separated from the vine withers and dies, our souls likewise grow increasingly barren when we drift away from the Lord. Yet Jesus, who drew near to the disciples in their despair and walked with them, still comes today into our weary and lonely lives, walking with us unchangingly (Luke 24:15?16). Therefore, may we place our trust in Jesus, the true vine, and become those who walk with Him daily.

2. God, who purifies us
Just as a farmer cares for the vine, God watches over us with great care and purifies us so that we may live lives that bear fruit. Every branch that does not bear fruit, He removes, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes so that it may bear even more fruit (John 15:2). In this way, God removes sin and unbelief from within us, and to those who have forsaken their first love, He calls for repentance and return (Revelation 2:4?5). The Word of God is like a mirror that reveals our sin, and when we receive the Word into our hearts and obey it by faith, we are renewed and made clean day by day (John 15:3). We must humbly come before God in repentance, restore the purity of our faith, and become believers who grow into spiritual maturity by being filled with the Word and the Holy Spirit.

3. Life that remains in Him
Just as a branch must remain attached to the vine in order to bear fruit, so also can we bear fruit only when we remain in the Lord (John 15:4?5). When we dwell in Him, our hearts are filled with true joy and peace, and we are empowered to live lives of love, embracing and forgiving one another. Moreover, remaining in the Lord removes anxiety and worry, brings answered prayers, and yields abundant fruit in our lives (John 15:7). Therefore, we must offer the lives and talents given by God entirely for the glory of the Lord and live in wholehearted dedication to Him. I earnestly pray that, until the day we stand before the Lord with joy, our entire lives may be offered to God as a holy sacrifice.
