A Life Experiencing the Holy Spirit
(John 14:15-17)
Today, we are living in the era of the Holy Spirit. The Pentecostal Holy Spirit movement, which began with the revival of Azusa in 1906, has spread throughout the world and continues to this day. God proclaimed through the prophet Joel that, in the last days, He would pour out His Spirit on all people. Jesus also promised that the Father would give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. Therefore, we are called to live by faith and to be filled with the Holy Spirit as we walk through these end times.
1. The Holy Spirit whom, Jesus requested from the Father
Jesus asked God the Father to send the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, for us (John 14:16). The term Counselor refers to one who comes alongside to help, an advocate, a supporter, and a comforter. Jesus came as the first Counselor, and the Holy Spirit came as the second Counselor to aid us in our weakness, to protect us from the temptations and trials of the world, and to guide us into all truth (John 16:13). He also teaches us the words of Jesus, brings them to our remembrance, and intercedes for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words (Romans 8:26). Therefore, we must walk daily with the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, and live according to His guidance.

2. The Holy Spirit, who is the spirit of Truth
The Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Truth, guides us into all truth (John 16:13). The truth of the world changes with the times, but Jesus, who is the eternal and unchanging Truth, remains the same forever. Therefore, we must not rely on the changing world or people, but place our trust in Jesus alone, who is constant and unchanging. In order to do so, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit, the Counselor, who is the Spirit of Truth (John 15:26; Acts 1:8). When we are filled with the Spirit, we come to know Jesus more deeply (John 14:26). The wavering of our faith and our falling into temptation occur when we are not filled with the Holy Spirit. May we long daily for the fullness of the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Truth, and become those who reveal Jesus alone through the Word and through prayer.

3. The way to be filled with the Holy Spirit
Being filled with the Holy Spirit begins with living according to the words of Jesus. If we truly love Him, we must keep His commandments, not merely in words but through the manner of our lives (John 14:21). As Jesus taught, we must love one another, forgive, and live lives of service as He did. Continually examining our faith in the light of the Word, we are to live a Spirit-filled life by following the will of Christ, who dwells within us (Galatians 2:20). As children of God, may we daily experience the grace of being filled with the Holy Spirit and, by walking in step with the Spirit, persevere to the end and triumph in faith.
