The Miracle of Praise and Thanksgiving
(2 Chronicles 20:17, 21)
The Christian life is characterized by gratitude and praise. God delights in our thanksgiving and is present in the praises of His people. Therefore, as those created to glorify Him, we must live lives marked by thanksgiving and praise, not only in times of prosperity, but also in seasons of hardship and suffering.

1. When Tribulation Approaches
During the reign of King Jehoshaphat, Judah faced a major crisis as Moab, Ammon, and the Meunites united against them (2 Chronicles 20:1?2). When adversity approaches, fear, worry, and anxiety naturally arise in our hearts. Job likewise lamented that what he feared had come upon him, after losing his possessions, children, and health almost overnight (Job 3:25). In the same way, hardships can come suddenly and shake anyone. However, King Jehoshaphat did not remain in fear. He turned to God in earnest prayer and proclaimed a fast for all his people (2 Chronicles 20:3). Likewise, when we guard our hearts and rely on the Lord during times of suffering, God will surely help us and open a new path before us.

2. God, Our Help in Suffering
God is our refuge and help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). When the people of Judah faced overwhelming danger, they acknowledged their weakness and sought God earnestly, knowing human effort alone could not save them (2 Chronicles 20:12). They fixed their eyes on the Lord. Likewise, in moments of suffering, what we can do is come before God and pray. When we bring our concerns to Him with thanksgiving, God hears our cries and gives us His peace. As we let go of our worries and turn to God, His peace, beyond anything we can understand, will guard our hearts (Philippians 4:6?7).

3. The Miracle of Praise and Thanksgiving
When King Jehoshaphat and his people prayed with one heart, the Spirit of God came upon Jahaziel the Levite. God declared that the battle belonged to Him, and the people needed only to trust and stand firm (2 Chronicles 20:15, 17). Hearing this, Jehoshaphat and all the people bowed down and worshiped God. As they marched into battle, the king appointed singers to go ahead of the army, dressed in holy robes, to praise the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:21). When they lifted their voices in praise and thanksgiving, God worked powerfully and granted them a miraculous victory. I believe God continues to work through praise today. In times of hardship, may we honor the Lord not with complaints, but with thanksgiving and praise, trusting that He will bring victory and deliverance in His time.
