Those Who Hope in God
(Psalm 146:1?5)

As we look back on the past year, we come to realize that every step we have taken has been guided by God’s grace. Truly, everything has been grace. With hearts full of gratitude, we offer thanks and praise to the Lord for His mercy that has brought us to where we are today. As we move forward, we are called to continue each day in faith.

1. Let Us Give Thanks and Praise to the Lord
Praise and thanksgiving are not optional acts but the calling of our lives. The psalmist urges his own soul to praise the Lord and declares that he will praise God all the days of his life (Psalm 146:1?2). This confession reminds us that gratitude and praise are not reserved for special moments. They are the rightful posture of a life lived before God. The Lord delights in the praise of His people, and as those saved by His grace, we are privileged to offer Him thanks and worship. Therefore, we must never cease praising Him as long as we have breath (Psalm 150:6). Let us reflect humbly on the moments when gratitude was lacking and commit ourselves to lives overflowing with thanksgiving and praise.

2. Do Not Rely on People
Many of the wounds and burdens we carry come from relationships with others. When we place our trust and hope in imperfect people, disappointment often follows, and we find ourselves bearing life’s weight alone. The psalmist warns us not to rely on human power or on those who cannot even solve their own problems. No person can ultimately save us or provide lasting answers to life’s deepest struggles. Only Jesus Christ is the true Savior, the One who invites the weary and burdened to find rest in Him (Matthew 11:28). Judas Iscariot walked with Jesus for three years, yet in the end chose worldly power and money over faith. We must not follow that path but instead choose the way of faith?relying on Jesus alone in every circumstance.

3. Put Your Hope in God
Those who make the Lord their helper and place their hope in Him are truly blessed. Our real hope in life does not rest in people or circumstances, but in God alone. For the Lord is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). When we call on Him, He hears our prayers and delivers us from our distress (Psalm 50:15). Holding fast to this truth allows us to move beyond fear and anxiety and to walk forward with praise and thanksgiving. May we remember that true blessing is not found in the fleeting things of this world, but in God, the source of all blessing. May we place our hope fully and solely in Him, rather than in human dependence.
