Come to Me, All You Who Are Weary and Burdened

Matthew 11:28-30, NIV

28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Nowadays we are not willing to shoulder painful burdens or responsibilities for each other. We try to give them to others if we can. However, Jesus Christ tells all people who are weary and heavy burdened to come to Him, and He will take all of their burdens.

1. The heavy burdens of life that make us weary.

1) The burden of guilt and condemnation (Ps 38:4).
2) The burden of secular corruption.
3) The burden of physical and mental illness.
4) The burden of the ordeals of life.
5) The burden of death and nothingness.

2. Come to Jesus and leave your burdens with Him.

1) Pray to the Lord (Php 4:6-7; Jer 33:3).
2) Believe that Jesus unloaded all of our burdens at the Cross (Mt 11:28; Ps 68:19).
3) “Faith” means, trusting a person and entrusting yourself to him (Ps 55:22; 1Pe 5:7).
4) Have peace of mind (Jn 14:27; Mt 28:20).

3. The burdens of life and human relationships.

1) Love of those who have warm and tender love, a soft heart
2) The meek become a winner who takes the land.
① Those who yield to others (Mt 5:38-42; 5:5; Ps 37:11).
② Do not take revenge (Ro 12:19-21).
- “To put charcoal on top of the head” means, to change the impression of your enemy.
3) The story of Jean Valjeans in Les Mis?rables.
4) Being humble ? Lower yourself, respect and serve others (Php 2:3; Mt 23:12).
- Jesus washing the feet of His disciples (Mk 10:45).
① Anger, hatred, and grudges will disappear.
② One receives peace of mind when leaving everything to God.
③ One does not challenge a negative response.
④ One is liberated from a lot of stress.

4. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.

1) Gentleness and humility is the yoke of the Lord.
- Learn how to practice meekness and humility and rest your mind (Eph 4:2-3).
2) The Lord’s yoke is easy and His burden is light.
- When we carry the yoke of humility and gentleness, the complexity of human relationships becomes simple and light (Mt 11:29-30; 1Pe 5:5).

When we come to Jesus, we can leave our individual burdens with Him. When we carry the yoke of gentleness and humility, we can also be released from the burdens that we incurred in our relationships in society and have rest in our minds.
