Stand in the Lord
(Php. 4:1-4)
Paul wrote 13 chapters of the Bible and established churches wherever he went. In the past, he tried to persecute many christians and destroy churches before he met Jesus. However, the reason why he experienced this great transformation was he met Jesus on the way to Damascus and he lived in Jesus.
1. Stand firm in the Lord
We are weak people with sinful nature. So when we face problems we fall down and commit sins. We don't have power to overcome sins and even like to commit sins. Without God, we live to follow our sinful nature. The life against the cross of Jesus will be led to self-destruction. The way to get out of this sinful life is to remain in Jesus. When we remain in Jesus, we belong to heaven as citizens of kingdom of God. (Php. 3:20) Those who remain in Jesus can obey God with the power of Jesus and enjoy the blessings of heaven.
2. Agree with each other in the Lord
Paul asks us to be united with one mind in Jesus. We have different values and ideas so we frequently argue and are conflicted with others. Humbly we should put down our hearts and learn the mind of Jesus. (Php. 2:5) We should remember that everything comes from Jesus. Those who know the grace of Jesus do not advertise themselves. Always we should bear in mind the amazing grace of Jesus and be led by the Holy Spirit to keep love, forgiveness and reconciliation. As a result, we can be united in our family, churches and society.
3. Rejoice in the Lord
Joy is indispensible element in faith. Paul might have been sad and gloomy but he asked to be happy as much as we can. Paul asks us to be joyful in any circumstances. (1Th. 5:16) Love, fame and material things of the world give us temporary happiness but not eternal joy. To have eternal joy, we should come before God who is limitless. Only God can give us unchangeable satisfaction and happiness which springs forever. To do this, we should remain in the Lord. Let us live with positive faith and give thanks to God with the eternal joy coming from the Lord.
