God Who Is Going Before Us
(Deuteronomy 1:30-33)
We are fortunate people who have accepted Jesus as our Savior, becoming God's children and living "for the glory of God." However, those who live aimless lives often wander, seeking worldly pleasures to fill their empty selves, but eventually find themselves sinking deeper into despair. When we place our complete trust in God and rely on Him wholeheartedly, He guides our lifetime on the path of blessings.
1. God who fights for us
Moses spoke to the people of Israel as they were about to enter Canaan, telling them that The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you (Deuteronomy 1:30). When the Israelites left Egypt after 430 years of enslavement, God judged the Egyptians with ten plagues, and when they reached the Red Sea seemingly with no escape, God divided the waters, allowing them to cross on dry land. In this way, when God is with us, no one and nothing can stand against us (Romans 8:31). May we walk under God’s presence and find victory in every spiritual battle we face.
2. God who protects us
Our God loves us and protects us, much like a parent's love for their child. Moses used the analogy of a parent carrying their child as a way to describe the God who led the Israelites from the wilderness (Deuteronomy 1:31). Regardless of the hardships and weariness we may encounter as we walk through our life, we must always remember that the Lord will never abandon us; He will personally accompany us along this path. When we rely completely on the God who is always with us, we can continue to walk with firm faith
3. God who guides us
People are often curious about the future of their lives. However, God, by allowing us to reflect on the past, helps us make the most of the present, ensuring that we do not repeat the same mistakes. The paths we will walk in the future will be prepared by God Himself, who goes before us just as He did for the Israelites, seeking out their resting places, guiding their way with fire at night and clouds by day (Deuteronomy 1:33). We hope that all of us will firmly hold onto the promises of His Word and continue to move forward, following only the Lord who guides our steps toward the kingdom of God.
