When Jesus Saw Their Faith
(Mark 2:1-5)
The life of faith is about walking "by faith" until we enter Heaven. We receive salvation by believing in Jesus as our Savior, and we achieve spiritual maturity by believing in and faithfully following God's promises. Through this faith and the assurance of eternal life in Christ, we will gain entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven. Faith is the foundation of every part of our spiritual journey. Therefore, we must commit to living as people of faith who are pleasing to God throughout our lives.
1. Jesus the one who resolves all problems.
The Gospel of Mark tells us that when Jesus was preaching in Capernaum, so many people gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door (Mark 2:1-2). In that town, there was a man suffering from paralysis, living in profound despair. Upon hearing that Jesus was near, four of his friends decided to carry their paralyzed friend on a mat and bring him to Jesus. Regardless of the difficulties or hopeless circumstances we face, those who come to Jesus in faith will meet the Lord, the ultimate Solution to all problems, and experience the miraculous grace of His healing.
2. Faith that conquers the impossible.
When the four friends brought their paralyzed companion to the house where Jesus was, they found it so crowded that there was no room to enter (Mark 2:4). However, they did not give up. Instead, they went up to the roof, made an opening large enough to lower their friend on his mat, and brought him right before Jesus. We should follow the example of the unwavering faith shown by these friends. Even when faced with seemingly impossible situations, let us keep our eyes on Jesus and move forward with an attitude of absolute faith and positivity. In doing so, we will encounter the God who enables us to overcome the impossible and achieve victory.
3. Faith that earns Jesus’ approval.
Jesus took special notice of the faith of the four men who went to the extent of removing the roof to bring their paralyzed friend before Him. Scripture tells us that "when Jesus saw their faith," He forgave the man's sins and healed his paralysis (Mark 2:5). What God values above all is our faith. As children of God, we should not seek recognition from others, but strive to have our faith recognized by the Lord. I earnestly pray that we all live as people of faith, approved by Jesus, and experience a life of blessing and prosperity as we journey toward Heaven.
