Put a New Spirit in You
(Ezekiel 36:24-27)
The secret to a victorious and prosperous year is found in guarding our hearts and experiencing transformation within our spirits. As we continually renew our minds to understand and follow God’s will, living a life that brings Him delight, we will witness the overflowing grace of God in every aspect of our lives

1. God who completes salvation.
God is a God of justice and love, who saves and restores those who repent. Israel, having forgotten God's grace, fell into spiritual corruption and idolatry. As a consequence, they faced God's judgment, their nation was destroyed, and they were taken into captivity. Yet, when the exiled people of Judah repented of their idolatry and prayed fervently, God granted them the grace to return to their homeland (Ezekiel 36:24). God longs for His people to return to Him. By sending His only Son, Jesus Christ, He opened the door to salvation, and through faith in Him alone, we can experience the grace of salvation, even in the midst of the deepest despair.

2. God cleanses us from all our impurities.
When the people of Judah repented and confessed their intention to forsake idolatry, God cleansed them and purified them (Ezekiel 37:23). Even if we have lived lives apart from God's Word, when we genuinely repent, God will cleanse us and enable us to fulfill His Good and perfect will. Anything we love more than God becomes an idol in our lives. May we, relying on the precious blood of Jesus, not defile ourselves with idols but instead be purified, living victorious lives in obedience to His will.

3. God who gives us a new spirit and new heart.
After cleansing the people of Israel, God gave them a new spirit and a new heart (Ezekiel 11:19). When the new spirit, the Holy Spirit, comes into our lives, our hardened hearts are removed, and in their place, He removes the stubborn heart and replaces it with a tender heart, clothing us in the virtues of gentleness and humility. To live a life of blessing, our hardened hearts must be broken, for no seed can take root in a heart as hard as stone. We must uproot our strong will and stubbornness with the fire of God's Word, throwing them into the furnace of the Holy Spirit, that the impurities may be burned away. Let us be armed with gentleness and humility, so that we may fulfill God's mighty work.
