God Who Turns Darkness Into Light
(Psalm 18:27-29)
God is a good God who helps those in suffering and affliction. What our nation needs at this moment is not the power of man, but the mercy and grace of God. As we pray, like the prophet Jeremiah, with tears, God will heal this land and bring restoration.
1. God who helps the afflicted.
God is the One who always shows mercy to the weary, the exhausted, and the afflicted, extending His help to them. When the Israelites endured 430 years of enslavement in Egypt and cried out to God in their pain and suffering, He heard their cries and sent Moses to deliver them, opening the path of salvation (Exodus 3:7, 9-10). God speaks to those of us who are in the midst of struggle and suffering, saying, "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know" (Jeremiah 33:3). When we humbly kneel and pray earnestly, God will hear our prayers and light the lamp of hope for us.
2. God who lights the lamp of hope for those in despair.
When we find ourselves trapped in the darkness of despair, uncertain of what to do or where to go, God guides our path and shines the light of hope upon us. Above all, Jesus came into this world as the Light, shining upon those in darkness with the light of healing, hope, and salvation (John 9:5). Therefore, even in moments of despair, we must look to God alone and earnestly seek His help. When we pray earnestly, God not only hears our prayers and lights the lamp of hope for us, but He also strengthen us to overcome our hardships (Psalm 18:4-6).
3. God who enables us to overcome hardship.
Regardless of the difficulties or the powers of darkness that surround us, when we trust in God and move forward in faith, we can overcome all challenges. David walked the path of victory by trusting in God (Psalm 18:29), and Jabez, through his earnest prayer, received God's response and experienced the grace of having his affliction transformed into blessing (1 Chronicles 4:10). God does not abandon us when we cry out in the midst of suffering. Instead, He uses our trials to teach us endurance and hope, strengthen our faith, and enable us to achieve victory over all our enemies (Romans 5:3-4; Psalm 18:32-39). Let us place our full trust in God, the One who empowers us to conquer our trials, and live a life of victory that overcomes every challenge.
